Meet the Founder
About the Designer
As I approach my 50th birthday, I find myself reflecting on a lifetime of experiences that have shaped both who I am and how I design outdoor spaces today.
I am the founder and lead designer behind Lemon and Honey Landscape Design. Long before landscape design became my profession, I spent my life outdoors. Growing up, I was passionate about BMX riding, skateboarding, and surfing. Those pursuits eventually took me around the world, teaching me to appreciate diverse landscapes, environments, and the unique ways people connect with the outdoors.
My professional journey began at Orange Coast College, where I studied horticulture and developed a deep understanding of plants, soils, irrigation, and sustainable landscape practices. After college, I started my career in Newport Beach as an account manager in the surf clothing industry. While I enjoyed the fast-paced creative environment, I was ultimately drawn toward a career that allowed me to work more closely with the outdoor environments I loved.
In 2006, I founded a landscape maintenance corporation that grew successfully over the next seven years before being sold in 2013. Operating and managing landscapes on a daily basis provided an education that cannot be learned solely from books or classrooms. I witnessed firsthand how landscapes mature, how plants respond to changing conditions, and how design decisions made today impact a property years down the road.
Following the sale of my company, I transitioned into landscape design, combining my horticultural education with years of hands-on field experience. My background gives me a unique perspective: I design not only for how a landscape will look on installation day, but for how it will evolve and thrive over time. Every plan is created with long-term growth, maintenance, functionality, and sustainability in mind.
Throughout my career, I have also maintained a Qualified Applicator License, further strengthening my knowledge of plant health, pest management, and responsible landscape practices.
Today, I am also the proud father of three teenage children who continue to inspire my appreciation for outdoor living. At Lemon and Honey Landscape Design, my goal is simple: to help families create beautiful, functional outdoor spaces where memories are made for years to come.
